Are you tired of fielding that question?
The other day I replied with my standard answer about the blessing of a sixth child being up to God (and our physical, financial, spiritual, and emotional health), before I realized that my I was actually being asked if I was done home schooling for the year!
(from Todd Wilson's Official Book of Homeschooling Cartoons)
For better or worse, this summer my answer is no! Last summer was such a sauna that we opted to take more time to enjoy the crisp autumn weather. We staggered in subjects and are slowly crossing some off the list. In some subject areas we are on week 19, while others are DONE. Hopefully The List will shorten up and allow for more outside time - a great motivator for the kids to work diligently and finish up!
My hope is that by continuing school during the weeks we are home (and not scheduled with day camps and such) will make the beginning of a new school year a little less daunting and give us the option of trying that camping thing again in September when the weather is cooler and the nights are longer.
How about you? Do you school year-round or take a long leisurely break?
