The last time my husband and I went to Valley Fair was . . . when we were engaged - fifteen years ago! That's a long time to go without a roller coaster ride. Too long. So long that I had serious whiplash pain the next day. But the kids - they loved it of course.
The tricky thing about Valley Fair with a largish family (other than the cost) (even though we saved $80 by purchasing tickets online) is the height requirements for each ride.
The little ones were admitted on most of the rides in Planet Snoopy, and the bigger kids could ride too.
We could not take the 2yo on many rides like the Rocket Express - not even holding him in our lap.
But he was allowed to ride the beetle bugs with his sister.
The best rides for the whole family: the Carousel, Ferris Wheel, and the Rail Road.
Princess M. was a thrill seeker, so Joe went off with her to go on the Wild Thing, Excalibur, Hydroblaster, and Looping Starship. Twelve is a great age for amusement parks.
Princess L. and Prince J. were done with the big rides after the Corkscrew and High Roller, although they did tolerate the Extreme Swing, Wheel of Fortune, and Power Tower.
I think it was the Renegade that did my neck in. Oh, to be young again.
The little ones were sick two days later most likely from all the germs they picked up. There is a surprising lack of hand sanitizing stations at Valley Fair. And the people watching - oh my!
Fun day, no doubt about it. We went home tired and happy.
