In the quiet of Lent I have let go of participating in Sarah's link-up.
But the latest issue of Gilbert arrived and the quote on the top of the front cover jumped out at me.
(Probably because one of my kids is studying the Crusades)
"I believe the whole medieval society failed, because the heart went out of it with the loss of Jerusalem."
The thing about history, for a melancholic like me, is that it makes me wonder how different the world would be if battles had turned out differently.
What if France had succeeded in restoring a Catholic monarch to England? What if the Spanish or French had prevailed against England and the colonists? What if Europe had kept Jerusalem?
What if, what if, what if. Good thing it's all in God's hands.
Even this very day, God sent an answer to prayer, but in a way I never expected. He always knows best, and gives beyond what I ask.
